Matthew Savoca

Matthew Savoca is a National Science Foundation postdoctoral fellow at the Hopkins Marine Station of Stanford University. He is an ecosystem ecologist studying anthropogenic change in marine systems. Matthew completed his PhD in Ecology at the University of California, Davis, where his research focused on why marine animals mistake plastic debris for prey items. He is also passionate about science communication; his writing has appeared in The Conversation, the San Francisco Chronicle, Scientific American, and the Washington Post.
