Matthew D. Brown, PhD, retired in May 2026 after more than 30 years of U.S. federal service across the CDC, NIH, HHS, USAID, and the State Department, including seven overseas postings and senior roles at PEPFAR and the Bureau of Global Health Security and Diplomacy. He holds the Sergio Vieira de Mello Visiting Chair in the Practice of Post-Conflict Diplomacy at Seton Hall University’s School of Diplomacy and International Relations and introduced the Global Health Diplomacy framework in Science & Diplomacy in 2014.
