Kavita Patel is currently a primary care physician in Washington, DC. She spends time advising startup companies and new ventures in health services and technology at New Enterprise Associates. Dr. Patel was previously a director of policy for the White House under President Barack Obama and a deputy staff director to the late Senator Edward Kennedy, where she focused on pandemic preparedness and health care reform. Her prior research in health-care quality and community approaches to mental illness have earned national recognition and she has published numerous papers and book chapters on healthcare reform and health policy
