Jaime Montoya

Jaime Montoya is a professor at the University of the Philippines College of Medicine, and chair of the Health Sciences Division. He is also the Secretary of the National Academy of Science and Technology and the Executive Director of the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development. Dr. Montoya was appointed by the UN Secretary General to be one of 15 leading scientists from around the world to draft the UN Global Sustainable Development Report for 2023.

Dr. Montoya is an award-winning infectious disease specialist with a masters of science and diploma in Clinical Tropical Medicine from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, at the University of London, U.K. He is certified by the Royal College of Physicians, London, and the Philippine Board of Internal Medicine and the Philippine Board of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. He also holds a masters of science in bioethics from the University of the Philippines Manila College of Medicine and a PhD in medicine from the Juntendo University Graduate School of Medicine, in Tokyo, Japan.
