David Sathuluri

David Sathuluri is founder and codirector of the Laboratory on AI, Climate and Society at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, Columbia University. He is an interdisciplinary researcher, human rights advocate, and policy expert whose current research interests are at the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and climate justice, the caste–climate nexus, and environmental politics and policy. He serves on the steering committee of the Environmental and Climate Justice Project at Columbia Climate School and is convenor of the Earth Network on AI, Climate and Society at the Earth Institute, Columbia University. His writing and research have appeared in a wide range of journals, media outlets, blogs and publications, including the Los Angeles Times, Yahoo News, the Richmond Times-Dispatch, the Hindu, the Diplomat, the Wire, Dialogue Earth, Climate Home News, Tech Policy Press, Down to Earth, the Columbia Daily Spectator, and the Oxford University Climate Society, among others. He was also engaged with the United Nations as a civil society expert and delivered guest lectures/talks at Columbia University’s Center for Sustainable Development (SDG’s Today), the Wildlife Conservation Society, and the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies.
