Chido Dziva Chikwari

Chido Dziva Chikwari, PhD, is an infectious disease epidemiologist based in Zimbabwe who has extensive experience coordinating and evaluating implementation science research in rural and urban settings within the country. This includes evaluating HIV testing interventions, community based psychosocial support for people living with HIV, as well as the provision of sexual and reproductive health services in community-based settings for young people. She has both quantitative and qualitative research experience and has published extensively in peer reviewed academic journals. She is passionate about working with young people and has mentored youth researchers in Zimbabwe. In 2018 she was awarded an HIV Research Trust Scholarship and has made several appearances on Studio 7 Voice of America to discuss the epidemiology of COVID-19 and the immediate implications for Zimbabwe. She is currently writing up her research degree, which is an evaluation of targeted HIV testing strategies for children and adolescents in Zimbabwe.
