Rodrigo M. Carrillo Larco
Rodrigo M. Carrillo Larco is a researcher that focuses on on non-communicable diseases, with a special emphasis on cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. Rodrigo’s research aims to integrate non-traditional data sources with cutting-edge analytical methods to generate timely and pragmatic evidence for global health. By harnessing big and heterogenous data resources, his work provides tools to address everyday challenges in public health. His research is geared toward enhancing prevention strategies, refining risk stratification, enabling early diagnosis, and improving monitoring and surveillance to inform public health initiatives and policy decisions. He worked to set up the Cohorts Consortium of Latin America and the Caribbean (CC-LAC), a collaboration to develop the first cardiovascular risk prediction tool for Latin America. Rodrigo has authored more than 140 academic publications, including papers in PLOS Medicine, eLife, Nature and the Lancet’s family. He completed his medical training at Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru in 2016. Shortly after, he moved to London, United Kingdom, where he worked as a Global Health Research Fellow with the NCD-RisC at Imperial College London. Rodrigo received his PhD from the department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Imperial College in 2022 funded by the Wellcome Trust.
